CORBIN —

An early morning robbery landed a Corbin man in jail on multiple charges Saturday.
Laurel County Sheriff John Root said Homer J. Lovett, 26, faces charges of first-degree robbery and remains in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Just after midnight Saturday, deputies Brett Reeves and Kirk Mays arrived at the South Stewart Road Walmart in Corbin after a woman reported an assault.
Deputies accuse Lovett of backing the woman into a corner, telling her he had a knife. The suspect then began choking her and demanding money.
After an investigation, Reeves and Mays arrested Lovett, charging him with the robbery as well as third-degree criminal trespassing, as Walmart management had already told him to leave the store.
Lovett also faces charges of public intoxication, third-degree possession of a controlled substance and first-offense having a prescription controlled substance not in a proper container. When he was arrested, Lovett told deputies the pills belonged to his grandmother.
