Two London women were arrested Tuesday after it was learned they used their positions at a local dentist’s office to obtain prescriptions illegally, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Katrina Dixon, 35, and Ashley Coffey, 25, would call in forged prescriptions for dental patients without the patients’ knowledge and then obtain the prescriptions themselves, Root said.
The two were arrested about 2 p.m. following an investigation by detectives Jason Back and Brad Mitchell.
Dixon is charged with 10 counts of unauthorized procurement of a controlled substance for unlawfully obtaining hydrocodone pills on 10 separate occasions. Coffey is charged with eight counts of unauthorized procurement of a controlled substance for unlawfully obtaining hydrocodone pills on eight separate occasions.
The women are jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
The investigation continues.
East Bernstadt woman arrested for intoxication
An East Bernstadt woman was arrested Saturday after deputies found her drunk and violent at a home located five miles north of London, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Sherry M. Todd, 39, had set clothing on fire in a yard and had destroyed a weapon when deputies arrived, Root said.
She was arrested by Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and second-degree disorderly conduct. She was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Drug use evidence found in home
A London man was arrested Monday after deputies searching for a juvenile runaway found evidence of drug use at his home, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Roy W. Osborne, 38, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. after deputies Kirk Mays and Greg Turner followed-up on a tip that the juvenile might be at a Crescent View Drive home. Once at the home, Root said deputies found a straw with a white powdery substance on it, spoons with a melted blue pill that is thought to be a Roxicet and hypodermic needles.
Osborne is charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Another drug roundup arrest
Another man has been arrested in connection with a recent drug roundup in Laurel County, according to Sheriff John Root.
Clinton O. Jackson, 39, of London, is charged with cultivating marijuana. He was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Corbin Police Department assisted with the arrest.
Root said arrests will continue as suspects are located.
