Southbound I-75 in Tennessee closed until at least Thursday

Northbound I-75 will still be reduced to one lane

CORBIN — Special to the

Times-Tribune

Southbound Interstate 75 will remain closed south of Jellico, Tenn., until at least Thursday while crews work to stabilize a section of rock slope near mile marker 143. A section of embankment collapsed in that area on March 8.

Earlier today (Tuesday), the Kentucky Department of Transportation reported that significant traffic backups were observed extending two miles north of the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.

Northbound I-75 will be reduced to one lane of traffic for about three miles in the area near the collapse, from mile marker 141 to mile marker 144.

Motorists should expect potential long delays and use extreme caution while traveling through this area.
