By Becky Manley / Staff Writer

UPDATE: Layton Champlin was arrested and in Laurel County police custody Thursday afternoon. See Friday's edition of the Times-Tribune for more on this story.

Police are asking the public's help in finding a Lily man who led police on a 30 minute police chase Wednesday, according to the Corbin Police Department.

The man, Layton Champlin, 44, is the son-in-law of Johnny Dale Marcum, 48, also of Lily, who was arrested Thursday morning at Kroger, 14889 N. U.S. 25 East, Corbin, police said.

Marcum was arrested for shoplifting and drug related charges.

The police chase Wednesday began after police received a report of a drug deal happening at Sonic, police said. When police arrived at Sonic, Champlin drove away and police pursued him for about 30 minutes, police said.

Champlin abandoned his car in a ditch along KY 1223 and fled on foot into the woods.

Champlin is wanted on various charges related to fleeing police and drugs.

Anyone with information about Champlin's whereabouts is asked to call the Corbin Police Department at 528-1122.
