One killed, one critically injured in accidental shooting

A London man was killed and a Williamsburg man was critically injured by the same bullet in an accidental shooting early Thursday, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
The shooting happened after 2 a.m. at a home on Sally's Branch Road. Witnesses told deputies several friends had gathered when Kevin McElrath, 25, of London, removed the clip from a 45 caliber pistol, which discharged. The bullet struck McElrath in the head, killing him, Root said. -
London voters say 'no' to alcohol sales

Mother Nature can be blamed for the postponement of the 13th Region Girls Tournament on Friday. With sever weather predicted for much of the state Friday, 13th Region Tournament officials decided to postpone games until Saturday.

Corbin Family Dollar robbed

The Family Dollar store in the Corbin Station shopping center off the Cumberland Gap Parkway was robbed about 3:30 p.m. today (Thursday) by a lone gunman. -
Corbin smoking ban passes vote
A smoking ban ordinance was unanimously passed Wednesday by Corbin's commissioners.
During a special called meeting, the second and final reading of the ordinance was held. Once the ordinance is advertised, it will become law. -

Don Moses has been tapped by Whitley County Judge/Executive Pat White as Whitley County attorney, according to a press release issued by White Tuesday.
