CORBIN — Special to The Times-Tribune
The Fine Arts Association of Southeastern Kentucky, Inc. presents Wood and Strings Theatre — The Art of the Puppet at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday at the Conway Boatman Chapel at Union College in Barbourville.
Fresh from a performance at the acclaimed Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York City, Wood and Strings Theatre presents cultural folklore from around the world using visually splendid articulated figures and a wide variety of authentic puppetry techniques. Wood and Strings has performed to sold out audiences at “National Geographic Live!” four years in a row, and was recently chosen to represent the United States at the International Puppetry Festival.
The Tennessee-based group has toured nationally for the past 16 years and has four main stage puppet productions based on folklore, myths and legends from across the globe.
They do more than 300 performances annually and are seen by more than half a million people. In addition, they have designed and constructed puppets ranging from marionettes to traditional Japanese Bunraku. Don’t miss this unique, one-of-a-kind experience!
Individual tickets for the show can be purchased for $25 at the door. For season membership information, call (606) 546-4601 in Barbourville; (606) 528-1354 or (606) 620-7952 in Corbin; or (606) 549-8213 or (606) 524-3091 in Williamsburg.
