The Laurel County Fair spreads itself out over two weeks each summer at the Laurel County Park on KY 229 south of London.
Because of space limitations, the agricultural portion of the fair runs first, and started Monday with the dairy cattle show.
The entertainment portion of the fair begins on Tuesday, July 7.
The agricultural portion of the fair continues today with the Agricultural Skill-a-thon and judging clinics and contests. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The clinics begin at 9 a.m. with the judging contests beginning at 2 p.m.
Wednesday will see the county goat show with weigh-in at 9 a.m. and the show beginning at 10 a.m.
The Wilderness Trail District goat show starts with weigh-in at 11 a.m. and the show begins at 12:30 p.m.
The county lamb show weigh-in is at 9 a.m. and the show starts at 10.
The Wilderness District lamb show weigh-in is at 11 a.m. and the show at 12:30 p.m.
The agricultural fair wraps up on Friday with the hog show weigh-in at 9 a.m. and the show at 10 a.m.
The feeder calf show weigh-in is at 11 a.m. and the show starts at 12:30 p.m.
Weigh-in for the market steer and heifer show is 1 p.m. and the show starts at 3 p.m.
The auction begins at 6 p.m. and the Charles M. Cornett Youth Showman Award is presented at 7 p.m. followed by the Farm Credit Service Annual Dinner.
Nearly three weeks later, the entertainment segment of the fair will kick off on Tuesday, July 7 with the gate opening at 5:30 p.m. and carnival rides starting at 6 p.m. The Kent Family Circus plays at 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. No Joe’s Clown Circus appears at 7 p.m., 8 p.m and 10 p.m.
Those events will continue for the week at the same time slots.
Wednesday, July 8 will see the Miss, Miss Teen and Pre-Teen pageants beginning at 7 p.m.
A new event, a Truck Tug of War, will begin at 8 p.m.
On Thursday, the Demolition Derby and Figure 8 races begin at 8 p.m.
On Friday, July 10, the karaoke contest starts at 7 p.m. The truck pull begins at 8 p.m. And at 9 p.m., the Renegade Band show begins.
On Saturday, the Little Miss/Master pageant and the Tiny Miss/Master and Baby show start at noon.
That night, the tractor pull and the Colgate Country Showdown begin at 7 p.m. and the Renegade Band at 9 p.m.
