Kicking Eagle to land at Corbin Pow-Wow

Motivational speaker promotes imagination, education, & self-esteem

“If you don’t fit in, STAND OUT!” is one of many quotes attributed to author, philosopher, storyteller, and motivational speaker Kicking Eagle.  He has appeared at each of the three previous pow-wows presented at Corbin, Kentucky by the Kentucky Native American Heritage Museum, and he is scheduled to return to speak at the 4th annual KNAHM Pow-Wow.  It is scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday, September 1st and 2nd at 4116 Cumberland Falls Highway, just outside Corbin, Kentucky.  The pow-wow gates will open at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and at noon Sunday.

Eagle is a former peace officer and has toured often since the release of his first book at the Texas State Fair in 1994, speaking at schools, colleges, churches, community events and corporate events.  He has spoken for the Texas War On Drugs, Special Olympics, Eckherd Foundation Camps, the Air National Guard Recruiting and Retention Conference, and for private events.  He has been the guest on hundreds of radio and television programs nationwide and has been honored many times along the way. 

The author urges everyone to “fly high and avoid gophers.”  He says we all have those “gophers” around us… people who we sometimes think are our friends and peers, but that seem to want to hold us down at “their level.”  Another of Eagle’s quotes is:  “When they say you can’t, is usually means they couldn’t.”  He adds:  “The only limits you have are those you accept!”

Eagle is the author of The Legend Begins, I Know Ican, Billy Banjo, and Pow-Wow (a trilogy). Each book promotes confidence, common sense, patriotism and traditional values.  Pow-Wow (the first of the Pow-Wow Trilogy) introduces the readers to a pow-wow through the eyes of a young American eagle.   No ordinary eagle, his name is Ican, and it is derived from his “I can do it” attitude.  Ican has appeared in each of Eagle’s books and his attitude is: “The world is my classroom, everyone is my teacher!”

In Kicking Eagle’s first book, The Legend Begins, the author and the young eagle were introduced and teamed up with the assignment to restore traditional values to America.  The tools they were given to accomplish this are available to everyone.  They include confidence, integrity, and education.

Eagle invites everyone to come and meet him at Corbin.  He says “the pow-wow is a family-oriented event where children, parents and grandparents can come and be entertained, motivated, and educated.”

Among the honors received on tour, the author received the Key-to-the-City at Youngstown, Ohio and at Monticello, Kentucky.  He received the appointment as Ambassador of the United Eastern Lenape (Indian) Nation.  Fans and friends worldwide call him “The Ambassador of The People.  Eagle’s message is universal… and timeless.
