Ghost Tour held in Corbin

CORBIN — Storyteller Tamara Malloy read a ghost story, “The Bed by the Window,” to a group of people taking Thursday evening’s Ghost Tour of downtown Corbin in front of the Hall-Watson Building on Roy Kidd Avenue. The building once housed the old Smith Hospital on the second floor, and a funeral home on the first floor, and was part of a walking “Ghost Tour” of the city’s

downtown.

The tour featured stories by Malloy and other storytellers at sites which include Mayor McBurney’s home, You, Me, Coffee and Tea (the old Cottongim Drug Store), and the old Hippodrome Theater site.

Organizers say some 35 volunteers helped out Thursday, including Casandra Estep of the library staff,  with refreshments served after the tour back at the Corbin Public Library. The tour is co-sponsored by the library and the Main Street Corbin program, and continues Friday and Saturday from 6-9 p.m., starting at the library on the corner of Roy Kidd and Laurel Avenue.

Admission for the tour is free.
