Two nights of high-flying motorcycle racing excitement is coming to The Arena in Corbin.
The FMF Kentucky Indoor Motocross Championship will be held Friday and Saturday at The Arena at the David L. Williams Southeastern Kentucky Ag and Expo Complex.
Each day will feature one round of competition in the 16-race AMA sanctioned winter series that runs in Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee, according to Sam Gammon, president of Victory Sports and event promoter.
The series runs November through March and this will be the only time the series will be in Kentucky.
At The Arena, 35 classes will compete each day, Gammon said. There are four ATV classes and the rest are motorcycles. Competitors will include children, amateurs, novices and pros.
Gammon said although the women’s and pee-wee classes are popular crowd-pleasers, the professional competitors garner the most crowd reaction with their high jumps that allow them to easily fly over two or three dirt mounds as they race around the crowded track.
During those jumps, Gammon said it’s likely the pros will often soar 20 to 25 feet above the track.
“It’s going to be a great race,” Gammon said.
