CORBIN —
By Carl Keith Greene/Staff Writer
When he won the Times-Tribune Monster Truck Coloring Contest, Austin McDonald, a student at Lynn Camp Elementary School, won four VIP tickets to Friday’s Monster Truck Nationals at Corbin’s Arena.
In an interview Friday, he said he is pretty good at drawing things. He said he draws “crosses, eight balls on fire, cars and stuff like that.”
Trucks are some of his favorites. “I try to draw the trucks and stuff but I try to make them look like realistic,” he added.
Sometimes he colors or paints the drawings he does, he said.
He said he’s been drawing since he was little.
The 11-year-old sixth grader said when it came to his lessons, “I like math.” McDonald said multiplying is his favorite part of math.
“I want to be a cop,” he said noting what he wants to do when he grows up.
About that time in the interview, Darron Schnell, a South Dakota native, who was to drive in the truck nationals at The Arena, appeared.
He now lives in St. Louis.
In The Arena he drives “The Cow Truck,” he said. He is sponsored by VICOR Animal Nutrition.
The Monster Trucks were in The Arena on Friday night and will be there again on Saturday night.
