CORBIN —
Times-Tribune Staff Report
On Monday, London’s First Baptist Church will host a fundraiser for the Bowling Family gospel singers.
On July 1, their bus collided with a tractor trailer on I-85, near Charlotte, N.C.
Mike Bowling is a native of Laurel County and began his gospel singing career there.
Mike sustained head trauma, a broken wrist and crushed eye sockets.
His wife, Kelly, had a broken bone on her back and a broken foot.
Daughter Kaitlyn, 6, required some plastic surgery and 3-year-old Gracelynn got a knot on her cheek.
Hope, the 10-year-old, had minor injuries.
The family was heading for Indian Land, S.C. to record a television program that night.
They have returned to their Nashville home where the family is recuperating.
The fundraiser will begin at 7 p.m. General admission is a recommended $10 donation and all proceeds go to the family. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The church can be reached from exit 38 on I-75. Turn east off the interchange and turn left at West Fifth Street, (KY 1006), the next intersection from the interchange. First Baptist is the second church on the right.
