CORBIN —
The Knox County UNITE Coalition is thankful to have had its seventh successful Buddy Bass Fishing Tournament at Laurel Lake Grove Marina on Saturday, April 28. Ninety boats entered the tournament and 12 boaters received monetary awards for having bass fish with the most weight.
Kids Being Kids Day Care donated $300 for the largest small mouth or large mouth fish. Commonwealth’s Attorney Jackie Steele donated $250 for the largest trash fish.
Grove Marina Manager Cindy Corey and employees go out of their way each year to provide any and all necessary supplies. Rex Huff and his staff are instrumental in the success of the tournament. Tracker Boat allows us to use their porch for our pre-tournament cookout. Also, local businesses have been so generous to once again sponsor this tournament. We appreciate their continued support.
Proceeds from the tournament will be used to conduct youth activities such as Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs, the Faith-Based Basketball League, Tee-Up for UNITE, educational programs and much more. These events would not be possible without local support. Feel free to join us at any activity.
Again, thanks to everyone who is always supportive of Knox County UNITE.
Charley Greene Dixon Jr.,
Knox Co. UNITE Chair

Who was the writer of the NIBROC letter?
Both local newspapers had letters to the Editor attributed to the “Southern Kentucky Chamber Of Commerce Board Of Directors.” I immediately remembered Abbot and Costello’s famous question in their 1942 Movie, “Who done it?”

March is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
How many times have you have turned on the television, logged on to the internet, picked up the newspaper, or turned on the radio to learn there has been another incident of sexual violence in your community? How many people do you know and love who have been affected either directly or indirectly by just one incident of sexual violence?
