CORBIN —
The First Presbyterian Church of London is gearing up for its 4th annual prom dress giveaway. In the past, Laurel County Schools have been the focus of this mission but this year, due to the generosity of individual community members and businesses, the event is being expanded to include the surrounding counties of Jackson, Knox and Whitley.
The goal of this mission is to provide prom attire to middle and high school girls attending the prom, regardless of household income. Most dresses, shoes and accessories have been gently used, however some are new.
As in the past, the Missions Committee of the church is seeking donations of gently used prom dresses (preferably cleaned), shoes, and accessories. Anyone wishing to donate any of these items may drop them off at the church at 123 Keavy Road (across from Lowe’s) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or by calling 864-6789 to make arrangements for the items to be picked up. Donations for this year’s giveaway will be accepted through Friday, March 23; however, there is no cutoff date as donations are gladly accepted throughout the year.
The church Missions Committee would also like to take this opportunity to thank the community for its wonderful support in the past and looks forward to another successful event.

Who was the writer of the NIBROC letter?
Both local newspapers had letters to the Editor attributed to the “Southern Kentucky Chamber Of Commerce Board Of Directors.” I immediately remembered Abbot and Costello’s famous question in their 1942 Movie, “Who done it?”

How many times have you have turned on the television, logged on to the internet, picked up the newspaper, or turned on the radio to learn there has been another incident of sexual violence in your community? How many people do you know and love who have been affected either directly or indirectly by just one incident of sexual violence?
