Cockfighters give back to communities

Cockfighters give back to communities

I saw your clip on cockfighting in southeastern Kentucky, in fact I was there. Mr. Goodwin (with the Humane Society of the United States) forgot to film the donation that was tossed into the ring for the preacher and his family, whose house had burned down and lost everything. He also failed to mention the donation that was taken for a lady who had to have life-saving surgery, for the family to be able to stay close to her while she underwent surgery.

He also forgot to mention the donation for a headstone for a local child who had been killed in a car wreck and whose family could not afford a headstone. This was so the family would have a place to go for closure. Each of these donations have happened on different occasions. No one in the crowd complained; we asked to step up to the plate. They reached into their pockets and gave freely knowing that should their families ever need help, they would get more support from the game fowl club than the local government or state authorities.

Those are just a few people that this club has helped, as there are too many to mention. This was all given freely by those who were there that particular night. John Goodwin says he is a humanitarian … who in the community has he helped?

I am a hard-working person who is outside regardless of the weather conditions, and care for my fowl no matter what the weather. I would say that I treat my fowl better than most treat their children. People continue to claim that Kentucky has no money, so why not allow this sport of kings? By allowing it to continue openly and taxing it like any other sporting business. This would also assist the local communities with revenue, in hotel sales, food and other items as you would see with the local horse racing industry.

Bingo is a game of chance and played in every town in Kentucky. Often it is the elderly who attend and spend their pensions at the bingo halls. We have off-track betting parlors scattered across the commonwealth also for those who may or may not understand horse racing to gamble on the races. To beat it all, we have boxing and ultimate fighting shown on TV, which is the same as a cockfight except people are doing it and not game fowl. Also it is wagered on.

I wanted you to know that cockfighters are not the blood thirsty Neanderthals that they are portrayed to be, but in fact are hard-working citizens who care for their communities, families and fowl. We contribute more than many realize, as only the sensationalism of the sport is publicly aired.

Ask John Goodwin how many families he has helped, or how many communities he has increased the revenue in? These people are extremists who are against such normal things as the Westminster dog show, KFC and the statues of Mr. Sanders. What are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to eat just vegetables? What happens if we have a bad year with floods, freezes and such like Florida just did? It would starve the people who could afford the cost of what little was available. So the rest would live on air? If the worst came to worst, I can eat the eggs from my chickens as well as the chickens as necessary.

Maybe more people should know how low John Goodwin holds human life. Information found at http://activistcash.com/biography.cfm/b/3364-john-jp-goodwin
