Jennifer McQueen, 41, was taking her three children to school Thursday morning. A short distance from their home, she apparently lost control of her car when it ran off the right shoulder of the road.
It then overturned and she was reportedly ejected, said Laurel Sheriff Fred Yaden.
She was not wearing a seatbelt, he added.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, on KY 490 northeast of East Bernstadt, by Laurel Coroner Doug Bowling.
Her children were taken to St. Joseph hospital in London.
According to a report from Yaden, the children appeared to have sustained minor injuries.
Yaden said their ages and gender were not available at the time of his report.
The incident happened at about 7:30 a.m.
Laurel deputy Jerry Jones, an accident re-constructionist, is investigating the incident, Yaden said.
Also at the scene were the Cross Roads Fire Department and the Laurel County ambulance service.
