The Corbin City Utilities Commission voted to spend about $50,000 for employee raises.
The bulk of those raises came from a 2.7 cost of living raise.
The vote, which came during a meeting Tuesday, also increased the salaries of the chief water and chief sewer plant operators to about $60,213. The about 18 percent increase brought the salary for those two positions in line with other supervisors, according to Ron Herd, general manager.
The executive secretary was also changed from an hourly pay of $18.38 to an annual salary of $40,000. Herd said that change was made since the position includes management duties.
During his report, Herd told board members about four more easements are needed for the sewer extension to Tattersall. Herd plans to meet with landowners about the easements.
Plans are underway to remove an old filter at the waste water treatment plant that contains mercury. Herd said the filter, which hasn’t been used since 1981, is contained in a concrete tank and soil testing has confirmed no contamination has occurred.
