Drug arrest made outside Economy Inn

Times-Tribune Staff Report

A Corbin man who had already been charged once before for drug trafficking was arrested again on Thursday after leading police on a foot chase through downtown.

Michael Adams of Corbin had been charged on June 5th with trafficking in a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, he was arrested less than a month later after officers were allegedly able to purchase prescription controlled narcotics from him with the help of a confidential informant.

When approached by Corbin Police at the Economy Inn on Thursday, Adams led officers on a foot chase through moving traffic on Kentucky Street. He physically fought officers but was placed under arrest and transported to the Whitley County Jail.

Adams was charged with second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, trafficking within 1,000 yards of a school, second-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Corbin K-9 Officer Coy Wilson is continuing the investigation.
