A Knox County man called police 30 times Sunday night while intoxicated, said Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Greer.
The man got drunk “because he was bored,” according to witness reports from the man’s sister, and called the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department and the Kentucky State Police a collective 30 times.
The man filed several false reports to police, including one about someone walking on his roof, another about an overdose and even one about being stuck up a tree, Greer said.
When police arrived at the man’s home on Tower Road in Woodbine, they found him alone in his house and “badly intoxicated,” said Greer. Deputies then proceeded to handcuff the man and arrest him. They took him to the Knox County Detention Center, Greer said.
Greer said the man called the sheriff’s office thinking the deputies couldn’t track his calls because he was using a pre-paid cell phone. He said the office could still recognize the man’s number.
“When we got to the house, he had the phone in his pocket,” Greer said.
Greer said as soon as EMS had a chance to evaluate the man, they released him to the sheriff’s department for arrest.
The man’s name was not released because he is currently being evaluated to determine whether he was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest, and to determine if he has any mental health issues that need to be assessed, Greer said.
