London woman killed in Tenn.

A London woman has died from injuries she sustained in a Sunday afternoon motorcycle crash in Tennessee.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel reported that Shirley Stewart, 36, of London, Ky., died Sunday night at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 75 in North Knoxville, the paper reported.

Shirley Stewart was reportedly a passenger on a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by her husband, Paul Stewart. According to police accounts, Paul Stewart was driving northbound when he came upon slowing traffic.

He braked and lost control of the motorcycle.

The paper reported that Paul Stewart, 36, was still hospitalized Monday afternoon, but his condition wasn’t immediately available.
