A Williamsburg couple was arrested in Corbin early Tuesday morning on drug charges after Corbin police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Culver Street in Corbin.
According to K9 Officer Coy Wilson, who responded to the scene along with Sgt. Glenn Taylor, a man at his residence on Culver Street wanted his brother, 20-year-old Jordan Gambrel of Williamsburg, to leave his house.
“We responded to the call because Gambrel’s brother wanted him to leave. When we got there, his brother was also mad about his (Gambrel’s) drug use,” Wilson said.
Wilson and his K9 Kilo searched Gambrel’s vehicle and found burnt spoons, syringes and other drug paraphernalia. The dog also alerted Wilson to more paraphernalia near the vehicle.
“After we did the search of the car she (Kilo) pulled me into the grass where I found a bloody cloth and a syringe,” Wilson said.
Wilson said he believes Gambrel or his wife Geri Gambrel, 19, who was also at the scene, threw the syringes in the grass to avoid detection when police came.
Both Jordan and Geri Gambrel were charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Taylor and Wilson are continuing the investigation.
