Three Canadians injured in I-75 wreck

Three women were injured in a wreck on I-75 at the 29 mile marker Monday morning.

According to a release from the Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Barbara J. Peyton, 48, of Ontario, Canada, was southbound on I-75 when her 2004 Honda Civic struck a tractor-trailer in the rear.

Peyton and her passengers, 33-year-old Yvonne Howes and 54-year-old Kathy Henderson, also of Ontario, were transported to the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin for treatment of their injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner tractor-trailer, 50-year-old Ronnie Marriott of Ekron, was not injured.

No drug or alcohol use is suspected and seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash.

CVE Officer Mike Hamblin was the lead investigator and was assisted at the scene by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and the Laurel County EMS.
