Woman arrested in hammer attack

CORBIN — By Jeff Noble / Staff Writer

A Corbin woman’s attack with a hammer on her boyfriend Tuesday landed her in jail on assault charges, according to Corbin Police Public Affairs Officer Major Rob Jones.

Connie Roaden, 49, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence), a Class C felony. She is currently held in the Whitley County Detention Center in Williamsburg.

According to police, the attack occurred at 9:37 a.m. Patrolman A. Peace arrived at the residence and found Roaden’s boyfriend had been struck in the head with a hammer. Police said Roaden intentionally caused physical injury to the man by means of a deadly weapon. Roaden was arrested by Peace at 9:41 a.m.

When asked if the boyfriend needed medical treatment for his injury, police said he refused treatment. The boyfriend also told police he would go the the Whitley County Attorney’s Office and try to get the charges dropped.
