Man indicted for sexual abuse

Faces eight counts of abusing child from 2001-2008

A London man has been indicted for an alleged eight years of sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old.

The Laurel Circuit Court indictment alleges that in 2001, Glen G. Alford, 48, of 842 Oneal Road, London, began sexually abusing a child born in 1996. Alford is accused of eight counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, one for each year in the period 2001-2008 in which the abuse is alleged to have occurred.

—Two Laurel County residents have been indicted by the Laurel Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding various state and federal programs of an excess of $39,000 worth of benefits.

Anita and Robert “Bobby” Banaszak, of Marydell Road, are charged in the indictment with four counts each of program assistance fraud, with each count naming a different agency defrauded by the pair.

They received $18,713 in benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, $11,710.44 in medicaid benefits, $1,564.39 from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, and $7,216.61 in Child Care Assistance Program benefits, according to the indictment. The indictment alleges that the earliest fraud began in January 2008 and that the latest continued through November 2011.

—A Keavy man whose charges were dismissed in District Court has been indicted in the Laurel Circuit Court for allegedly shooting Gena Smith, also of Keavy, in the ankle with a rifle.

Richard J. Lawson, 36, has been indicted on charges of assault in the first degree as well as wanton endangerment in the first degree. Both charges stem from a Feb. 3 incident in which Lawson is alleged to have shot Smith as she fled the home where the two had been arguing. According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Lawson was discovered, unconscious, still holding the rifle with which he is alleged to have shot Smith.

Others indicted were:

*Mellisa A. Thomes, also known as Melissa Graham, 33, of Morning View, first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

*Denver Bunch, 40, of Gray, flagrant non-support.

*Homer Justin Lovitt, 26, of Corbin, first-degree robbery.

*James Reed, 51, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

*Charlie W. Tucker, 23, of Rockholds, theft by unlawful taking of the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000.

*Kameron Madon, 22, and Wilbern Madon Jr., 52, of London, theft by unlawful taking of the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000.

*Jeffrey S. Sasser, 48, of London, first-degree burglary, receiving a stolen firearm and first-degree robbery. Sasser is also charged with being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

*Billy Gray, also known as Billie Gray, 38, of Manchester, two counts of theft by unlawful taking between $500 and $10,000. Gray is also charged with being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

*Erik M. Farmer, 25, of London, theft of a firearm, and theft by unlawful taking of the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000.

*Donald Lewis, 43, of London, failure to comply with sex offender registration. Lewis is also charged with being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

*Phillip James Hutton, 56, of Lily, failure to comply with sex offender registration. Hutton is also charged with being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

*Donald W. Radford, 56, of East Bernstadt, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second offense. Radford is also charged with being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

*Ronnie McQueen, 47, of London, first-degree fleeing or evading the police, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, third offense, speeding, driving a motor vehicle while license is revoked or suspended for DUI, first offense, and reckless driving. McQueen is also charged with being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

*Jason P. Sims, 32, of Somerset, four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft by deception of more than $500 but less than $10,000, and three counts of theft by deception of less than $500. Sims is also charged with being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

*Stephanie Bumgardner, 29, of London, two counts of theft by unlawful taking of the value between $500 and $10,000, and three counts of theft by unlawful taking of the value of $10,000 or more.

*Milford Allen, Jr., 48, of East Bernstadt, trafficking in marijuana of more than eight ounces but less than five pounds, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, posession of a firearm by a convicted felon, posession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

*Derrick Feltner, 25, of East Bernstadt, two counts of forgery in the second degree, plumbing without a license, no liability insurance, no plumbing installation permit, and false representation of a licensed electrical contractor.
