Lily woman found under the influence of pain pills

A Lily woman was arrested Sunday after she admitted to a deputy she had snorted a crushed hydrocodone pill, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Henrietta Brown, 57, was determined to be under the influence by Deputy Greg Turner, who was sent about 5 p.m. to investigate a complaint that a woman was passed out in a vehicle parked next to a cemetery along Moriah Church Road.

Turner noted Brown had blue powder around her nostrils found a small plastic wrapper in the vehicle with a crushed blue-colored pill.

Brown was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and third-degree possession of a controlled substance. She was jailed in the Laurel County Corrections Center.

Deputy Steve Hoskins assisted on the investigation and arrest.

London woman arrested after crash Friday

A London woman was arrested Friday for being a fugitive from St. John’s County, Fla., where she is wanted for grand theft, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Ashley N. Barnard, 26, was arrested about 5 p.m. after she was involved in traffic crash with injuries on U.S. 25W, about 10 miles south of London.

Deputy Josh Scott arrested Barnard, who was jailed in the Laurel County Corrections Center.

Man admits he smoked marijuana

A London man was arrested Saturday after a sheriff’s sergeant watched him run a stop sign then drive into a ditch, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

After he was stopped about 8:30 p.m. by Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter, Ellis Smith Jr., 55, admitted he had smoked marijuana.

Smith was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and disregarding a stop sign. He was jailed in the Laurel County Corrections Center.
