CORBIN —

From staff reports

No injuries in Laurel County meth lab explosion

No one was discovered injured after the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department discovered burned remnants of a one-step meth lab Sunday.

Sheriff John Root said deputies Milton Storm and Steve Hoskins responded to a complaint of a one-step meth lab in a parking lot near Stone Road and Old Union Church Road south of London.

Upon their arrival, the deputies found remnants of the one-step lab.

They contacted Deputy James Sizemore and detectives Brad Mitchell and Billy Madden to dismantle what was left of the meth lab.

Deputies also discovered scorched clothing near the scene, indicating an explosion may have occurred.

Root said they believe whomever was involved may have experienced the explosion while activating the lab, and they may have been hurt or burned as a result.

Root added that as of yet, no victim(s) have turned up at area hospitals for treatment, and no suspects have been identified.

An investigation continues.
