A Williamsburg man was found dead Monday morning near his flood-stranded car by a Whitley County Road Department employee, according to the Kentucky State Police.
The man, Lowell M. Mullins, 61, was found in about two feet of water near his 1986 Oldsmobile on Poplar Creek School Road, about seven miles west of Siler in Whitley County, police said.
Police said they believe Mullins’ car became stranded after he drove into the water sometime during nighttime hours.
Mullins was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:15 a.m. Monday by Whitley County Coroner Andrew Croley and Deputy Coroner Jerry Elliott, Croley said.
An autopsy will likely be completed today in Frankfort, Croley said.
