Jonathan Dobson, spokesperson for the Kentucky Department of Highways District 11, said Monday afternoon that U.S. 25 in Goldbug would reopen Monday evening following a land slide that destroyed part of the road.
“One lane will be opened initially, with temporary signals providing traffic control,” he said. “A gravel surface will be used to expedite the opening. We expect full repairs to be complete in three weeks.”
Dobson said the slide was caused by “extreme saturation of the underlying soils brought about by the heavy rains observed over the weekend.”

Man died of self-inflicted wound
A 63-year-old Whitley County man, found dead Wednesday after a three-day search, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley.

Car slides off KY 11 into Disappointment Creek
About 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Mark Tidwell, of Barbourville slid on wet pavement, went off KY 11 and into Disappointment Creek, according to Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Wagner.
