LAUREL COUNTY —
A woman charged with giving her infant child to a Corbin couple in exchange for a truck was sentenced in Laurel County Circuit Court Friday.
The sentence will not be finalized until the judge completes necessary paperwork, but she will spend time behind bars and will receive probation.
Heather Ann Kaminsky, 31, originally faced charges of human trafficking, but pleaded guilty in court to a lesser charge of endangering the welfare of a minor. She also pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a methamphetamine precursors.
Kaminsky traded her newborn baby for a used pickup truck to Jamiee M. Brown, 33, and Jeremy Brown, 30, of Corbin. That couple appeared before a Laurel County grand jury, which returned No True bills on both parties. They faced felony charges of human trafficking.
In July, a confidential source tipped the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department to the trade, which involved a 1999 silver Dodge Dakota. After the trade, Kaminsky reportedly sold the truck for $800 and some methamphetamine.
The baby boy was found in good health and was subsequently removed by a judge’s order.
In late July, Kaminsky was located in Putnam County, Fla. and brought back to Kentucky to face the charges related to the sale of her son.
She remains jailed in the Laurel County Detention Center.
