A Corbin man was killed Monday night when he stopped his pickup truck on I-75 and was struck by a tractor-trailer.
According to Kentucky State Police, Larry W. Rogers, 65, was stopped for an unknown reason in the right lane of the southbound side of I-75 in Whitley County. At about 10:45 p.m., his 1996 Chevrolet S-10 truck was struck in the rear by a white, 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer, operated by Donald M. Cain, 44, of Dayton, Ohio.
Rogers was ejected from the vehicle, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office. Rogers was not wearing a seat belt.
Cain was not injured.
Police said no alcohol or drug involvement is suspected in the cause of the crash.
KSP –CVE Officer Greg Reams is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by the officers from the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Corbin Police Department, the Whitley County Coroner’s Office, the Whitley County Emergency Management and the Whitley County EMS.
