A traffic stop Sunday resulted in four arrests after police found heroin in the car, according to the Willamsburg Police Department.
Williamsburg Police Officer Brandon White stopped the car at Williamsburg’s BP next to I-75 exit 11 on Sunday.
Williamsburg Police Public Affairs Officer Shawn Jackson said when White pulled over the driver, four suspicious-acting passengers also occupied the vehicle. White was given permission to search the car, and, along with Lt. Jason Caddell, found several pill capsules that later tested positive for heroin. The occupants of the car admitted it was heroin, as well.
Caddell charged Christen Nicole Sutton, 30, and Elizabeth M. Carr, 29, both of Piqua, Ohio, and Elaine Vena Werling, 35, and Shawn W. Wright, 37, both of Williamsburg, with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. All four are being held at the Whitley County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
Jackson said, “Heroin isn’t real common here yet, but is making it’s way to Whitley unfortunately. It is highly addictive. Once it gets on the streets, the drug problem is going to get even worse.”
