Woman arrested in double stabbing

W’burg 44-year-old charged with first-degree assault, taken to Whitley Detention Center

A Williamsburg woman was arrested Sunday on assault charges for stabbing two men, according to Kentucky State Police Post 11-London Public Affairs Officer Trooper First Class Don Trosper.

About 9:45 p.m., the London post received a report of a stabbing at a home on White Oak Road in Whitley County from the Whitley County 911 Center, Trosper said.   

After arriving at the home, Trooper Tony Dingess discovered two male victims had been stabbed during a dispute. Teresa Sharp, 44, of Williamsburg, was arrested on the charge of first-degree assault for the double stabbing. She was taken to the Whitley County Detention Center.

Both men were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment of their injuries. Their names have not been released.

Both victims were in stable condition by Monday afternoon, according to Trosper.

The circumstances surrounding the dispute aren’t known at this time and the investigation continues, though it is suspected that drugs and alcohol may have played a part in the incident, according to Trosper.

“There is still not motive as to what caused the altercation, but it is suspected that drugs and alcohol were involved,” Trosper said.

Assisting at the scene were the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, the Williamsburg Police Department and Whitley County EMS.

Sharp has a court date set for Sept. 5 at 9 a.m.
