Meth lab found in home where girl, 12, lives

A London man was arrested Thursday after a detective found an active meth lab in the bedroom of a home where a 12-year-old girl lives, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Tony E. Chancy, 49, was arrested about 2 p.m. after Detective Jason Back investigated a complaint about a meth lab.

 Chancy was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and fourth-degree controlled substance endangerment to a child.

A 9 mm pistol and a .22-caliber rifle were found with the meth lab. Also it was determined that a 12-year-old female resides at the residence.

The accused was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

Assisting at the scene was Capt. Rodney Van Zant, Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter, Deputy James Sizemore, Detective Billy Madden and Bailiff Brandon Broughton.

The sheriff’s office special team dismantled the lab.
