Dalmas M. Bennett, 50, of London, was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center Thursday night after being pinned to a loading dock by a tractor-trailer.
Bennett is a truck driver for Flav-O-Rich dairy based in London.
Palmer Lesch, the company’s human resources director, said Friday that Bennett is in serious condition.
According to a report from the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement agency, the incident happened at the diary products plant north of London at about 10:30 p.m.
Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Greg Reams said a truck driven by Thomas Bailey, 50, of London, was backing into the plant’s loading dock when Bennett, apparently an employee, was struck and pinned to the dock.
Bennett was initially taken to St. Joseph hospital in London before he was transferred to UK.
Bailey was not injured, nor was drug or alcohol use suspected, said KSP Trooper First Class Don Trosper, Post 11 public affairs officer. Reams continues the investigation.
Lesch called the London plant an average dairy producer, adding that the plant makes about 120,000 to 140,000 gallons of dairy products daily.
The KSP CVE was assisted by the London police, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and Ambulance, Inc. of Laurel County.
