‘Bad Hair Bandit’ partner pleads guilty

CORBIN — By Becky Killian

A woman involved in a string of armed bank robberies with a man dubbed the “Bad Hair Bandit” pleaded guilty to charges in federal court Thursday, according to court documents filed in London’s U.S. District Court.

Tasha K. Fox admitted her guilt related to four armed bank robberies that occurred from July to December 2011 as part of a plea agreement before U.S. District Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove.

The banks were located in McCreary County, Barbourville, Corbin and Williamsburg. Court documents indicate the total amount she and Jason Fox took during those robberies totaled more than $55,600.

The plea agreement calls for the dismissal of a charge that Tasha Fox, along with Jason Fox, conspired to use a gun in a violent crime.

The plea agreement indicates that Jason Fox committed the first robbery alone. That robbery occurred at Commercial Bank in Barbourville on June 17, 2011.

During the next four robberies, Tasha Fox drove the getaway vehicle in which Jason Fox rode.

Court documents indicate Jason Fox, wearing a blonde wig as part of his disguise, entered the banks, brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the tellers using profane language and threats.

As photos of the robber were released to the media, Jason Fox was dubbed the “Bad Hair Bandit” because of the wig.

Court documents indicate Jason Fox robbed five banks in Eastern Kentucky, taking more than $61,000.

Tasha Fox also admitted she participated in a robbery at a LaFollette, Tenn., bank during which Jason Fox took $13,170.

Tasha K. Fox is set to be sentenced June 20. The plea agreement suggests a sentence of 12 to 15 years.

Jason Fox is set to be rearranged in federal court Thursday. At that time, he is also expected to plead guilty.
