CORBIN —

Section 171 of the City of Corbin’s business license ordinance is no more.
In a special meeting Friday morning, the Corbin City Commission approved the second reading of an ordinance which will amend the current business license ordinance by deleting the section that relates to rent collection.
The vote was unanimous, and upon legal publication, the ordinance becomes law.
To go along with the updating, the commission also approval to authorize City Attorney Bob Hammons to review the verbiage — the use of too many words — in the business license ordinance, with the possibility of reducing the fees.
The first reading of the amended business license ordinance was approved during a special meeting this past Monday.
Mayor Willard McBurney and City Commissioners Ed Tye, Joe “Butch” White and Phil Gregory were present at the session, held at Corbin City Hall.
