Fire destroys garage of Knox home

A fire destroyed a garage at a Knox County home Monday morning.

According to West Knox Volunteer Fire Rescue Chief Darryl Baker, his department was dispatched at 9:48 a.m. and, when they arrived at the home at 2870 Hwy. 1232 they found the garage fully engulfed. It took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Firefighters remained on scene until 11:13 a.m.

Baker said a man was working on a car in the garage, which was heated with a wood burning stove. The man told firefighters he left the building for only a few minutes before he was alerted by a neighbor that the building was on fire. The car was destroyed. Baker said the fire is not considered suspicious.
