Police investigate death of Laurel baby

The Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of a 23-month-old child in Laurel County on Friday.

The child was pronounced dead at 9:07 a.m. at St. Joseph of London Hospital by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office, according to the Kentucky State Police.

The pronouncement came about 10 minutes after a 911 caller reported an unresponsive child at a home along Ruby Jones Road in East Bernstadt, police said. LEX 18 reports the child was having trouble breathing.

An autopsy is scheduled at the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort to determine the manner and cause of death, police said.
