A London man was arrested Friday after allegedly breaking into a home and raping a mother inside.
Tyler Gross, 22, was charged Friday with first-degree burglary, rape and unlawful imprisonment by Kentucky State Police Detective Mike Bowling.
Gross reportedly lived in the same neighborhood as the victim — both live on Waterworks Road west of London.
The charges stem from an incident early Friday morning at the home. State Police report that at about 2:19 a.m. Friday, Bowling was dispatched to the scene of the incident, where “an adult resident of the home” had allegedly been assaulted.
The report said it appeared that Gross had “forcibly entered the residence through a window,” and took several items from the home.
The victim’s husband told WYMT News that his wife was raped and attacked in front of their 2-year-old son, and that Gross had recently rented some property from the victimized family.
Items stolen from the home reportedly included jewelry and a camcorder.
Gross was also charged with probation violation based on a bench warrant.
Jail records also indicate he has a history of theft and burglary charges as well as driving on a suspended license.
Bowling heads the investigation of the incident by the Laurel Major Crimes Task Force that includes KSP, London Police and Laurel Sheriff’s deputies.
