With about 10 weeks still to go before the Jan. 26 filing deadline, 24 candidates have filed for Knox County offices.
Mike Corey, J.M. Hall, and Charley Greene Dixon are still unopposed in their respective GOP races for county clerk, judge-executive and county attorney.
Bill Oxendine is the only candidate so far for property valuation administrator in the Democratic race.
Gary “Hammer” Jackson and John D. Pickard are running in the GOP primary and Sherman Lawson is the only Democratic candidate for sheriff, so far.
Larry D. Hammons and Mike Blevins are right now the only GOP candidates for jailer and coroner.
The first district magistrate’s race so far features only Democrat Carson Gilbert.
Two are in the second district magistrate race, both GOP, Keith Abner and Terry Brown.
The third district race has one Democrat, Jerry Reed Hamilton and one Republican, Glenn Collins.
In the fourth district for magistrate, Pat McDonald is the Democrat and Steve “Farm Dog” Farmer is the Republican.
In the fifth district, Republican Guilio Cima is the soul candidate so far.
In the GOP constable race, Elbert Centers is running in the first district, Garrett Brown in the second district, Jimmy Dye in the fourth and Carl Bolton in the fifth.
The Democratic constable race includes Larry Eagle in the first and Mike Bingham and Danny Hammons in the third.
