Two Corbin men arrested for stealing tractor-trailers
By Becky Manley / Staff Writer
Two Corbin residents are among four men arrested Tuesday for stealing semi trucks and trailers from Tennessee and Kentucky, according to the Kentucky State Police.
H.C. McDarries and Sam Gilbert, both 73 and of Corbin, were arrested as well as Ricky Lee McDarries, 50, of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Larry Neal, 50, of Tazwell, Tenn., police said.
The stolen semi trucks and trailers — which police said had a combined value of over $600,000 — were dismantled so the parts could be sold.
Federal indictments returned in U.S. District court in London charged each of the four men with conspiracy to own, operate, maintain and control a chop shop, police said.
The arrests followed a year-long investigation by the Criminal Enterprise Task Force involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Lexington and the Kentucky State Police Department.
Police said six police agencies in Kentucky, Tennesee and Virginia also assisted with the investigation.
