Corbin OKs $40K for city employees

Corbin’s city commissioners voted to spend $40,000 for cost of living adjustments for city employees.
The unanimous vote came during a special meeting Wednesday at the Corbin City Government Center.
The vote came after Commissioner Phil Gregory suggested commissioners give each city employee a one-time cost of living adjustment of at least $300.
Gregory said the extra money would help city employees since they didn’t receive raises this year.
After further discussion, during which Commissioner Joe Shelton mentioned an adjustment of $400, commissioners approved that higher amount for the 2009 cost of living adjustment.
In 2008, city employees each received an adjustment of $200.
After the meeting, Corbin City Clerk Erin Blount said she hoped to issue the checks to city employees that day.
