Fire breaks out in Barbourville apartment

Times-Tribune Staff Report

A fire, currently of undetermined origin, broke out just before noon Friday at the Knoxwood Apartments off the original route of U.S. 25E south of Barbourville.

The fire, in a four-unit building, was quickly extinguished by the Barbourville Fire Department.

The other units in the building had smoke damage, said Fire Chief Doug Dosser.

Doris Callihan, site manager at the complex, said the resident in the apartment was Kenneth Simpson.

There were no injuries involved in the incident.

Monetary damage estimates have yet to be made.
