Six people were arrested late Tuesday after police found a working methamphetamine lab in an East Bernstadt home, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department.
It was the second time in less than a year that police found a meth lab at 1781 Hwy. 490, police said.
After receiving multiple tips, police returned to the home about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and found a working methamphetamine lab. Six people were at the house, including the home’s resident, Glen Gilbert, police said.
After police arrived, some of the suspects tried to flee through a back door while others tried to destroy evidence, police said.
Gilbert was arrested on a felony charge of manufacturing of methamphetamine as were Larry Vaughn, Sherry Jean Brown, Jeremy Boggs, William Mose Hensley, all of London, and Angel Robinson of Annville. Police said Vaughn was also charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Police found three tanks in the home that tested positive for ammonia. Police said they also found other meth precursors and bi-products.
The chemical odor in the house was so strong that police said they couldn’t remain in the residence for very long. The Laurel County Division of Public Safety was called to the home to clean-up the lab.
