Apparent explosive device found in Canadatown residence

CORBIN — According to the Williamsburg Police Department shortly after 1 p.m. WPD was asked to assist Kentucky Probation and Parole at 421 Nanny Hubbard Road in the Canadatown community of Whitley County.

During the course of their duties, a probation and parole officer found what appeared to be a one-step methamphetamine operation in the residence and had three subjects detained.

When WPD K9 Officer Brandon Prewitt arrived, he confirmed what appeared to be a meth operation and also an apparent explosive device. WPD, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky and Whitley County Emergency Management, the Goldbug and Woodbine volunteer fire departments and Whitley County EMS are currently on scene.

Several nearby residences have been evacuated and nearby roads are closed. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is on scene and KSP's Hazardous Device Unit is en route.

Two males and one female have been arrested. Their identities and other information will be released later.
