CORBIN — By Carl Keith Greene / Staff Writer
Just before noon today (Tuesday) about 500 Barbourville residents had voted in the local option election that will decide if alcohol can be sold in the city.
The six precincts in the city are made up of more than 2,400 registered voters.
As voters left the Barbourville National Guard Armory where all the voting precincts for the election are located, quick interview questioning of six voters saw that three had voted yes and three voted no.
Knox County Clerk Mike Corey said when he arrived at the armory about 11:30 a.m. there had been no problems in the six voting machines so far and no other problems.
The voting booths will close at 6 p.m.
