Two men arrested in Canadatown meth bust

Lab discovered while police investigated previous meth case

Two Whitley County men were arrested Thursday after Kentucky State Police discovered an active methamphetamine lab in the Canadatown community.

The troopers were in the community conducting a follow-up investigation to a previous meth case.

Wayne C. Marcus, 32, and Bobby D. Canada, 26, both of Williamsburg, were charged with first-degree manufacturing of methamphetamine. In addition, Canada was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and first-degree unlawful possession of a meth precursor.

During the follow-up investigation, state police smelled a strong chemical odor when they arrived at the residence in Canadatown. Once they went inside, they found an active meth lab, items commonly used in the manufacturing of meth, and the finished meth product.

Both Canada and Marcus were arrested at the scene. Both are jailed in the Whitley County Detention Center in Williamsburg.

Tpr. Tony Dingess of KSP Post 11-London was assisted at the scene by State Police officers and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). He continues to investigate.

On March 1, a probation officer discovered an active meth lab at a Canadatown residence on Nanny Hubbard Road. When the officer asked for assistance and a K-9 officer came to do a search of the home, they found an explosive device, according to Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird.

The State Police Bomb Squad and agents from the ATF office in London were called in to defuse the device. Three nearby homes and eight people were evacuated while officials worked. No one was injured from the explosive device.

Three people from Canadatown were arrested by Williamsburg Police in connection with the live device and drugs.

Lisa Ball, 49, and Daniel Moeser 44, and Jerry White, 35, each face charges of first-degree wanton endangerment (manufacturing methamphetamine) first offense, and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, two grams or more of meth.

White also faces charges of receiving stolen property under $10,000.

All three remain jailed in the Whitley County Detention Center.
