Laurel home damaged by fire

Times-Tribune Staff Report

A mobile home on McFadden Road, just off KY 229 in Laurel County, was saved from flames Thursday morning by the Camp Ground and Lily fire departments.

Camp Ground Fire Chief Steve Bruner said the wall paneling in the living and dining area of the home was damaged and the rest of the unoccupied structure was smoke damaged.

He said it appeared the home was in the process of interior refurbishing when the fire started.

A wood-burning heat source, probably being used by workmen while they were there, possibly started the fire, Bruner said.

Bruner said he had no information about the home’s ownership.

The fire was reported at about 5:30 a.m. by a passerby, he said.

About 15 firefighters from the two departments reported to the scene in five trucks, three from Camp Ground and two from the Lily department which was assisting.

The incident was wrapped up about 7:30 a.m.
