LONDON —
A London man was killed Friday afternoon, the result of a motorcycle crash in Laurel County.
Curtis G. Smith, 41, of Rocky Branch Road in London, suffered fatal injuries in the wreck, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.
According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, the crash happened around 2:47 p.m. one mile south of London on KY 229, at the intersection of Hideaway Road.
Smith was driving a Suzuki motorcycle and was northbound on KY 229 when he lost control in a curve, ran off the road, and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter of the Laurel Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash. He was assisted by Deputies Robbie Grimes and Josh Scott, as well as Laurel County Constable Tim May, London Police Officer Jason Borman, the London-Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County EMS and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
