Mary Arnett

CORBIN — Mary Ruth Arnett, 92, of Williamsburg, Ky., departed this life Friday, March 12, 2010.

She was born in Loretta, Ky. on Oct. 30, 1917. She was the daughter of the late J.D. and Ida Hagan Stanfield. She was a graduate of Elmwood Academy in Perryville, Ky., Campbellsville Jr. College and Western Kentucky State College. She was an elementary teacher in Menifee County, Ky. and Paintsville City School. She also was the cataloguing librarian at Pikeville College and Cumberland College. After retirement, she and her husband spent 22 wonderful winters in Fort Myers, Fla. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Ky. for 50 years, the Vota Vita Sunday School class, the Atkins-Ellison Circle and the Williamsburg Woman’s Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel B. Arnett, two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Virginia Arnett of Rockholds, Ky.; her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Bill Hollen of Williamsburg, Ky.; her grandchildren, Manuel Brian (Keleigh) Arnett of Lexington, Ky., Dr. Kelly (Andy Schwartz) Arnett of Cambridge, Mass., Dr. Heather (Eric Dimitrov) Arnett of Cleveland, Ohio, Laura (David) Moses of Lexington, Ky., Dr. Joann (Dr. Aaron Baldwin) Hollen-Baldwin of Lexington, Ky. and Steven (Julia) Moses of Williamsburg, Ky.; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday, March 15, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Ky.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Williamsburg with Rev. Chuck Dupier, Dr. Bob Dunston and Mr. Ernest Triplett officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Highland Cemetery in Williamsburg. Brian Arnett, Aaron Baldwin, Eric Dimitrov, David Moses, Steven Moses and Andy Schwartz will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Vota Vita Sunday school class, Atkins-Ellison Circle, Rebecca Gibson, Emma Kate Alder, Larry Lee Arnett, David Watkins, Scotty Holbrook, Mike Thompson, Robert Stanfield, Jimmy Bradshaw and McArthur Bewley.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Music Programs of First Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Ky.
